"The moon is full, I wanna howl like a coyote
but we don't do that her in the big city.
What if took my clothes off and ran down the street naked? I would look like some crazy chick,
not some woman feeling sacred"

Jealous demons...metaphorical cliff-jumping...found love, lost love...remembering to breathe...These are some of the themes that Lisa Hunter explores with her highly personal songwriting style. A self-described "funky, melodic folk chick," Hunter has been writing songs since she first picked up a guitar while working as a ranger in Yosemite National Park.  "Living in wild places stirred me to some pretty heavy-duty soul searching," recalls Hunter. "The vehicles for expression of all that emotion were my guitar and voice. It was all I could do to not write songs."

Her first demo, a modest four-track recording called "Breathe" was created mainly for friends and family, but before long, Lisa was getting calls from strangers across the country asking for more copies of "a tape they had heard from a friend of a friend." Soon she made the leap to full-time musician, landing in a thriving acoustic scene in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and playing as one half of a harmonizing duo until she found her true niche as a solo performing artist.

Lisa's music path continued to unfold with the release of her debut CD Solid Ground on Ann Arbor's Thursday Records label. The album was named best local release of the year by Agenda Magazine, was played on the internationally syndicated radio show "Acoustic Cafe", and kicked off a non-stop national tour that continues today. Solid Ground's success and that of Lisa's live performances led to Metro Detroit Music Awards nominations for best new acoustic artist and best album in the folk-pop category.

Lisa continues to tour with her most recent album, Flying. With all the positive media attention and excitement over Lisa's music, she still stands true to her vision as a singer-songwriter: "I want to inspire people to feel and think. If someone says, 'hey, I've felt that way', then I've done my job."
